Let’s say that two students take the SAT, and apply to a college that claims to superscore.
One kid gets a 1300 (but his superscore is a 1400) and the other kid gets a 1400 in one sitting.
Will the kid who had to superscore be viewed as less competitive than the other applicant, or are they considered to be the same?
If a college accepts superscore, one should assume that they will be viewed the same. While I have heard there is an advantage to “one and done,” I think it’s apocryphal at best. I’ve certainly seen nothing in writing from a college stating it.
Regardless, SAT scores will be just one part of the overall application package.
If the school that uses super scores admits by formula (like California State Universities), then a super score would be treated the same as a single sitting score.
If it is based on holistic reading, then it may or may not matter, and colleges generally do not publicly say.
