Funding at Wisconsin Madison

I was admitted to the PhD Program for EE at Wisconsin Madison without funding for Fall 2010. Is this typical ? When would we know about funding ?

funding is a true pain in the ass for engineering graduate school, however it is a very good sign you’ve been accepted so early. For the two PhD Engineering grad schools I was accepted too. I heard from one on April 14th and the other(the one I’m attending) a few days before classes started. There is a funding deadline on April 15th. This means as a student you can basically renege your funding offer up to April 15th without penalty. This is thru some sort of Council of graduate schools agreement. After April 15th you’d actually need a release from one school’s funding offer if you wanted to attend a different school.

With all that being said. Research it, or ask more questions so you understand funding in EE PhD programs. Also, speak to graduate financial aid liaison at Madison about this.

What funding exist for international students?
