I’ve seen national labs that allow you to go get a degree full-time, and have a salary while having no non-school responsibilities. I have also seen plenty of other employers who just happen to be very understanding and supportive of their employees who spend some of their time at school. However, that takes an exceptionally pro-education company culture, which is seldom offered to standard engineers. I wouldn’t as a general rule bet that any given employer is going to be super supportive of part time education.
