I am on the committee at school that has to raise money for prom, the class trip, etc. and the well of fundraising ideas has run dry. We do bake sales, but they really do not make enough revenue. Dances at our school are not popular at all (except prom), so that idea is out. We have done class-wide stuff like wrapping paper and cookie dough, but our class is pretty unmotivated and only like 20 people (out of 300+) sold anything. We have tried raffles too, but the only people that really buy anything are people on the committee.

So do any of you remember attending a fun, memorable fundraiser that raised money for your class? Or can any of you think of something that could be fun?

Any ideas/suggestions are greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

Candy-grams. Think Mean Girls. “AndnoneforeGretchenWeinersbye”. People can buy them for friends/significant others at Christmas and Valentine’s Day. You could also try an outdoor movie night. Set up a projector and screen on your football field, have people set up lawn chairs, and show a popular movie. Charge for snacks and admission. Lastly, this might be a little weird cause you’re raising money for prom but host a black-light dance? My school did that for the freshmen dance and we got maybe $1500, after expenses. With the right dj, proper lighting, and neon/white stuff it works out well. Good luck!

^ Thanks! We do the candy grams and it is difficult to sell them. We sell them at lunch, but no one really carries around money anymore because they just buy lunch by swiping their ID cards. But the movie idea might be cool!

Contact a local restaurant or a place that has high consumer traffic and see if you can set up a fundraiser. In the FFA, we held a fundraiser at Chick-fil-A (even though I can’t stand that place! lol) having some of the proceeds go the FFA. We did fliers and each customer had to have a flier so we can get proceeds.
