Fundraising

I did research at a university of the summer last year and my school was able to pay for my dorm. This year, with my school's budget getting severely cut, they are unable to pay this year. Dorming cost I think is one grand and there's no way I can pay for that. I really want to continue my research so I want to find away to a least raise a majority of the money so I can go. Does anyone have any suggestions for fundraising? I'm completely lost in terms of what to do and any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

Car washes, bake sales, garage sales (though not that effective), sports tournaments.

My friend mentioned a car wash, but will that really bring a good amount of money?

Car washes, as I hear it, are notorious for being relatively unprofitable. And weary stale and flat. Just like all the uses of this world.

^really? car washes are pretty popular in my school. especially for sports teams

maybe it’s because around where i live, people are rich and don’t have access to baked goods unless we make them, but bake sales (depending on the amount of food) can cash in $100 at a time.

^how, exactly, do people not have access to baked goods? That sounds like a really curious situation.
Anyway, I would most certainly agree that bake sales are profitable. We make like minimum $150, even though at the end, we always discount to sell more.

sell candy! I sell about 30 pieces a day at a 50cent profit on each.

Every week or so, I go to sams club and get a **** load of candy and sell it at a dollar each.

I won’t be able to do the candy or bake sale. Our school doesn’t only allows the cafeteria to sell food during the day so the candy is out of the question, and as for bake sales everyday there are clubs that have bake sales so thats out. Crap it seems like a car wash is the only thing I can do. And since I’m a guy I doubt a whole bunch of cars will be coming my way hahah.

…why can’t you get a job?
