Funny encounter with Moo U grad

bearcats: Did Hotchkiss make you this way or were you always insensitive and money-focused? I’m sure Bucky the Bearcat is not proud of you. Is anyone?

(Go ahead, bash Choate now. I’m waiting.)

Right, why let facts get in the way of being nice and “genuinely good”? That’s what’s wrong with society these days, overly focused on being nice and PC with the lack of emphasis on facts that might be construed as insensitive.

Choate: No. I have always been analytically-minded and intellectually honest, with the understanding of the ugly truth that money derives power in the world we live in. Don’t really care what Bucky the Bearcat thinks about that but if Bucky the Bearcat is smart he would agree.

I doubt anyone here would argue the relationship between money and power, nothing inherently ugly there. What is ugly is an attitude of superiority toward those who make less than you do or who graduated from a fine school a few miles north of yours. People here bristle at being called inferior. You clearly don’t care – that is the definition of insensitivity, and everyone knows you’re fine with that.

See, there lies the difference between me and you. You, out of the necessity to be “sensitive”, would call that school fine. I am intellectually honest and will not be able to say so.

Moo U’s 25-75th percentile ACT is 23-28, that’s good for 68th - 90th percentile. In effect, 25% of Moo U’s student are below the top 32% of ALL ACT takers. That’s pretty shameful given how bad the average public school is in the nation.

[Score Information | National Ranks for Test Scores and Composite Score | ACT Student](<a href=“ACT Test Scores | ACT Scoring | ACT”>ACT Test Scores | ACT Scoring | ACT)

By comparison, Michigan’s 25-75 percentile is 28-32, good for 90th-98th percentile. I have googled the definition of inferior for you.

in·fe·ri·or
inˈfi(ə)rēər/Submit
adjective
1.
lower in rank, status, or quality.
“schooling in inner-city areas was inferior to that in the rest of the country”
synonyms: second-class, lesser, lower in status, lower-ranking, subordinate, second-fiddle, junior, minor; More

With that in mind, the average student at Moo U is vastly inferior. Moo U as a school, is also vastly inferior. Both factual statements. Sorry you dislike facts because you want to be sensitive.

Dear Spartan readers: I certainly understand why many of you feel that Michigan grads are insufferable. Many are.

Superiority Complex - Noun
su·pe·ri·or·i·ty com·plex

 1. An excessive striving for or pretense of superiority to compensate for supposed inferiority.
 2. An exaggerated opinion of oneself.

Example: I’m cringing at the superiority complex exhibited by bearcats as he talks about MSU graduates.

Most of us aren’t. It’s just such a super small minority who love to talk talk talk. I can’t in the life of me seeing anybody else I know have the motivation to make a thread like this.

Unfortunately I don’t fit into either definition. There is no pretense of superiority. Superiority is superiority. My opinion of myself is again, intellectually honest.

You guys really need to read the principles by Ray Dalio, arguably the most successful hedge fund manager that runs Bridgewater. It’s the management principle he abides by. Talks about out the importance of intellectual and full honesty at all cost, or in simpler terms, telling everything the way it is.

<a href=“Home — Bridgewater Associates”>http://www.bwater.com/Uploads/FileManager/Principles/Bridgewater-Associates-Ray-Dalio-Principles.pdf</a></p>

I know, KO, I know.

I’m surprised Alexandre hasn’t shown up yet to tell us all to play nice, but I guess we’re all used to bearcats by now. I know better than to engage. I really need to get out of here.

Play nice and ignore facts? Will do.

bearcats: It’s a fact that you are unpleasant and offensive, but we tolerate you.

(How long before this thread gets shut down?)

For someone who claims to love facts so much, bearcats seems to have no problem ignoring the fact that he’s a pretentious d-bag. I really hope for the sake of people who have to interact with you personally that you’re only like this because you’re behind a keyboard.

I guess the solace we can take from bearcats’ logic is that there are literally millions upon millions of people who he will apparently admit are superior to him due to one of the following criteria:

 1. They earned a higher ACT score.
 2. They earn more money.
 3. They attend/attended a university which is/was at the time higher than UMich on the USNWR report.

What a joke.

Lol! Now that’s about the most intellectually dishonest thing I’ve read on here so far. If you are unable to see how you are exhibiting a superiority complex when you create a thread for the sole purpose of bashing on a particular school while highlighting the superiority of your own, you might be suffering from Dysrationalia.

ChoatieMom: Right, I know. How does that affect me?

Are you advocating shutting down threads just because you dislike the topic? Everything I have pointed out so far is factual.

“Lol! Now that’s about the most intellectually dishonest thing I’ve read on here so far.
Please read the initial post. It wasn’t about bashing Moo U. It was something I find funny that people can relate when it comes to awkward interaction when doing business with grads from (2nd) rival schools.

"bearcats seems to have no problem ignoring the fact that he’s a pretentious d-bag. "

I really don’t ignore that fact. However, following the line of thinking in “principles” on critical thinking, the first thing that comes to mind is “how does that affect me?”. The answer is that it really doesn’t. The follow up question is then “why do I care?” The answer is that I really shouldn’t. So this fact has no significance to me.

Moo u? Which school is that?

^Agricultural College of the State of Michigan

Aka Michigan State University.

As long as we’re going to start using former names, let me assure readers that the opinions of bearcats are not standard at Catholepistemiad.

^Or Michigania.
