Anybody want to share funny experiences they had taking the SAT?

I ended up cramming vocab like 20 minutes before the SAT (that counted as my prep. :/). This resulted in a worse math score than english and critical reading (which made me the butt of a lot of "Asian" jokes. lol)

And then, the second time I took it, the person sitting in front of me kept reading his passage out loud. Like, I swear, he was going "1+1 is.... hm.... 2?..... or maybe 3.... or.... hmm..." In the end, we ended up ****ed off at him and like 5 people told him to shut up right in the middle of the test.

i took my june SAT at south hills high school in west covina, CA. i guess they ran out of proctors because my proctor was one of the school's custodians. she was japanese and her heavy accent and lack of experience with proctoring made for a crappy/funny experience. basically, i had to tell everyone in my vicinity what to do because she had no idea and kept confusing everyone.

SAT Subject Tests: A kid sitting next to me in the front row (there were about 6 students in the class) felt his cell phone go off so he took it out, looked to see who was calling as it vibrated, and put it under his chair....the proctor did nothing.

The first time i took the SAT II's, the people at the check in didnt have a "key" to turn the lights on so we had to wait for 20 min in the dark, then the proctor lost our tests...

ACT: 1st time in high school: a 7th grader taking the test was called "sir" by our proctor 5 times before she realized the kid was a girl. Then she completely outdid all the high school students taking the test by taking more math courses than most of us (AS A 7th GRADER). I think she was shooting for a 32. Everyone taking the test in that classroom bonded so much during that ACT. It was crazy. We started 30 min late b/c our proctor kept letting us talk to that 11 year-old.

3rd time: my friend starting taking candy out of a jar at the front of the classroom (this was at a different school with a proctor who didnt teach anymore) and starting handing out (whoever's candy it was) to everyone taking the test when the proctor began explaining the directions. He then continued to eat some jolly ranchers throughout the test, leaving about 20 candy wrappers behind on his desk. Also, one of the girls told us that she wasnt sure if her calc was legal since the "-'" and "8" buttons on her pocket calculator worked. I love my test taking center!

the funny thing is that i wanted to transfer to that school for a year....ultimately killing any shot of getting into yale that i might still have...

My browser crashed after I had clicked to pay for my SAT........But I didn't notice it, as the browser was Internet Explorer (the build of which sometimes just crashed for no reason at all), and I had to leave my computer to put out a kitchen fire (yikes!)

I knew what date I was registering for, and I didn't bother going back to the college board site until the night before my test, just to run down their 'make sure you have this stuff list'

That's when I noticed I wasn't registered for the test I was prepping for.

You can imagine the fun that ensued.

I took my SAT as a walk in (THERE IS SOO MUCH EXACTING PAPER WORK TO BE FILLED OUT), but luckily, I did better than I had hoped (760/740/740)! (Not factorials, not vinculums).

Needless to say I was freaking out and in awe of my staggering stupidity until my score report came.

And then some blasted kid at another high school got a 2400.

The second time I took the SAT, some student started the test before the proctor began reading the directions. I'm not sure if he didn't know that it was illegal or he didn't care, but he didn't even try to hide it. Essentially he ended up with 15 minutes more than everyone else and the proctor didn't even see him, even having walked by him about 3 times.

The third time I was thinking about this kid I REALLY didn't like at the time. After flushing him out of my mental chatter, I started thinking about dota (it's a game). Absolutely ridiculous. I'd be reading a critical reading passage and then think about a match I had lost the week before. I found myself wanting to leave the room just to go home and rematch some people. Ironically it was my best test.

Where to start? I have never had an SAT/ACT go "according to plan".
The first time I took the ACT I feel asleep during the reading portion (getting a score of 20something, the second time I took the ACT I got a 36 on the reading).
The second time I took that SAT, I had a band competition that day at 1:30. The SAT was running really late, I did not get done with the test until 1:20. So I literally ran from the testing room, put on my uniform while running, grabbed my snare drum out of my car and met my band at the very back of the football field as they were marching on.

Finally, when I took the SAT IIs, I was the only kid there to take three. So, after I finished with the third test, I stood up to leave, when my proctor made me sit back down until the time had expired. So I sat in a room by myself waiting on her to let me leave. Good times.

@Poseur
"Right-hand rule during Physics subject test.

Awkwarddd. :/ "

haha didn't take the physics subject test, but man did I feel uncomfortable in 9th grade physics lmao...

Yeah, I took the SAT my first time in this really big school in our area and after the test was over I almost fell down the stairs because somehow my flipflops were on the wrong feet haha!

Then for my subject tests,I registered late, so I had to take them in some shoddy run-down school and my desk wobbled and the surface area of the desk itself was only like 4 square inches and the proctor kept having his cell phone go off and was cursing at the computer he was using, and for some weird reason, the testing room next to us kept cheering and clapping...THAT WAS THE LAST TIME I EVER REGISTERED LATE.

The high school where I took my SAT IIs had motion-sensor lights, so about halfway through the second test the lights went out for a couple of minutes. They stayed off until the proctor called someone in from the hallway and they both waved their hands around until the lights came back on.

I took my SATs in March at a hs near me, and even though I knew I was kind of sick, I took it anyways. During one of the one minute breaks I ran to the bathroom and puked. When I got home I had a 103 fever.... NOT FUN. Plus half the ppl in my room were texting and whatnot, and our proctor who was a 20-yr-old punk-looking lady didn't care.
Worse, my mom wouldn't let me cancel the test, saying that one of my sections could've been better and I could always superscore. Now it just looks like I sucked on the SAT and then uberprepared :P

ugh pianista i know how it feels to take SATs while you are sick. My first time taking reasoning i was sooo sick. I ended up falling asleep during one of the math sections. I also kept having to get up to blow my nose loudly:(

Then when i took subject tests i started the math ii one and my calculator batteries died. Of course I had no extra, so i took it with no calculator.

I always have an interesting time at SATs:) Its kind of sad im done with them forever now.

THEY DIDNT GIVE US ENOUGH TIME ON THE ESSAY

well... we we're shorted five minutes so i started arguing with the proctor, who happens to be an idiot, and all the while everyone was scurrying to finish their essay

luckily the proctore realized his own incompetence and gave us the five minutes, but the scores ALMOST got cancelled because of it

taking the subject tests, there was the this one kid in there, i swear he took roughly 30 minutes on the handwritten "i didn't cheat", and when he finished, me and my friend definately started a slow clap in his honor.... it was ridiculous:)

I accidentally left three blank on the reading section. I was on section 9 out of ten, then finished up to 16 then rechecked my answers. I didn't realize until after the section time was up that there were three more problems on the following page.

I was very angry at the time, but now I find it moderately funny.

I lost some points on math because I decided to be a super-nerd and question whether 0 was an integer or not.. there was a question asking for all "integer" solutions to an inequality and I should have realized that nearly all SAT-takers wouldn't even consider whether their values were integers.. anyways, I had too much stress/time on my hands so I decided that 0 wasn't an integer and got that question wrong ><

I also nearly didn't get to take the SAT because I left my school ID at home. Luckily, though, my wallet had my Red Cross certificate ID thingy so they let me take it :D.
