Furious..a cheater got in ED?

If you get caught cheating at Cornell the charge is taken very seriously. My sons had a friend who was expelled for cheating on an exam. It was his first time caught and there was not going to be a second time. The professor had him appear before a committee and he left school that week. Tuition down the drain and a Cornell degree down the drain. I had asked both of my sons if they ever saw cheating first hand and they said the only time it was obvious to them was with international students.

<p>Wow… he got expelled for cheating once?? From Cornell?? that is incredibly harsh. This kid went to Cornell, not some military academy? </p>

<p>I would assume that if one gets caught cheating, that individual in question will be granted an F for the course, nothing more. I wouldn’t have thought that if one is caught cheating on a test he would get expelled. That is nuts!! (I feel terribly sorry for that kid, and how unlucky and dumb that decision to cheat was!!)</p>

<p>I’ve never heard of anyone who got expelled from Cornell for any reason. Only thing close to it was I knew one kid who had a GPA below 2.0 for two semesters and was asked to take one semester off and then come back.</p>

<p>btw, my TA in a intro sciences course was telling us in our section about the time he caught one guy cheating and that guy got an F for the course. i believe he didn’t get expelled, but i wouldn’t know. That was the only scenario that i know of in which someone got caught after cheating. I didn’t get to see anyone who got caught directly, so i wouldn’t know the exact consequences of getting caught after cheating…</p>
