Furman Pre-Med Students-Interesting article

I know that there are both students and parents of kids at Furman who are either pre-med students or considering medical school. Here is an interesting article about an additional admissions tool being used by some significant medical schools that I thought would be of interest: http://www.nytimes.com/2011/07/11/health/policy/11docs.html?nl=health&emc=healthupdateema4

As a health care administrator and nurse practitioner, this tool can take on tremendous importance for admissions officers looking for elements other than high MCAT's or GPA. Some of the most academically gifted and/or well-known physicians I have known had very poor people skills, and thus had a difficult time communicating/relating to patients. Thought this would be or interest to everyone considering a career as a physician. :)

Thanks for the article - I forwarded this to my D who will be a freshman. I think this would be a valuable tool for evaluating students!
