Hey guys,
I was pretty much all set on JJ, but after visiting on DoC and seeing Furnald and how nice and clean it is in comparison to JJ, I am now confused and have no idea what to pick.
The only scary thing about Furnald is its reputation of being antisocial and all that.
I am def a social person and dont want to miss out on the social life in my first year.
So if anyone knows about this and can make any comments please do so.
Any input is greatly appreciated.
Thanks

1) should be in the 2011 forum

2) go there and click the housing forum, there's a 10 page thread on dorms with lots of good info

3) Don't pick Furnald. It's nicer and cleaner and the lounges have kitchens, yes. You have air conditioning, yes. But it's not worth the sacrifice in personal connections you'll make. There simply aren't a lot of freshmen on any given floor in furnald and you're at a disadvantage in making friends.

there are side perks to JJ too. go read the Housing thread, especially post #3 (if I do say so myself...)

Ok, unless you're a social outcast and you intend to stay that way, don't go to furnald. But if you're just gonna stay in your room to study 24/7, Furnald will embrace you with open arms.

I 100% agree with this! i lived in furnald soph yr and the freshmen there were def not as socail as my floor freshman yr in JJ. also you will not use the kitchen as a freshman....thats just how it is....so it'll make no diff to you at all. Also, what's the point of living somewhere nice if you dont have any friends or wont be able to make any.
