<p>I’m looking for advice as to how and where to find stuff to furnish an apartment for son. Used and cheap would be perfect. He has transportation for a couple days at the end of August.</p>

<p>BEST solution (IMHO): if the tenants in the apartment are all moving out (i.e. graduating seniors), make them an offer for the stuff you might want. They’re usually happy to get any $$ they can and not have to move the stuff out. Big PLUS for you or son…less to move in!!!</p>
<h1>2 Best: Craig’s List: should be very active around now in the BU area as most leases are up on Sept 1. Usually lots of kids trying to sell off their furniture for good prices.</h1>
<p>Ikea: (they have a store south of Boston) nice looking and relatively inexpensive furniture. For instance, you can buy a desk top and 4 legs to make a nice desk. </p>
<p>Never done it myself but I’m told that on move out day (August 31 or so), the curb-sides are FILLED with stuff being discarded. If you’re not too proud, go for it :)</p>

<p>like ptony said, you’ll do great on Craig’s List this time of year…I got a futon last year for 50 bucks, a tv for 20, etc etc. pretty much everyone in boston is moving out around this time, and almost no one has a car to move things. so everyone’s just trying to get rid of stuff</p>
