Furniture. Where do I buy furniture?

I am living in an unfurnished apartment next year. I have never had to provide furniture for my previous 2 living situations thus far in college. Where the hell do I buy furniture. I can't haul it because I don't have a giant car or anything of the sort. I don't want to spend too much money because I don't need this stuff for more than 1-2 years max. I figure so many students in Bloomington live off-campus apartments/houses that they need to furnish themselves, so someone here must have an answer. Please and thank you. This is majorly stressing me out.

Most people I know either bummed furniture from relatives or their own family members, then just bought a mattress/bedframe or brought theirs from home. Some people did cheap Target furniture as well, using a futon for a couch, etc. I know my parents considered buying me nice furniture an investment, as the plan is for me to obviously be on my own and I’ll need a couch, bedroom set, etc.

If you’re looking for used furniture that you don’t care too much about, try IU surplus, the Habitat Restore store, or Goodwill. If you get in early enough, there’s a furniture store on 2nd and College (can’t remember the name for some reason) that has a ton of used furniture.

The post above is referencing the Furniture Exchange. Last time I was in there they had more new stuff than used (or maybe that’s what I was focused on?).

Long’s Landing is out on 46 as one heads out to Nashville. They sell used and new furniture, but if you don’t have a car it’s hard to get out there.

There is another local place nearby called Stahl’s on Second and Walnut that specifically stocks stuff for students in August. D’s roommate bought a bed there last year. Because of road construction they are having some great sales right now.

Check out the classifieds on OneStart. I found an inexpensive table and chairs for my D there a few years ago. You also might find ads for people with trucks willing to move stuff for you.

Worst case, you rent a cargo van for an afternoon to move things you find at Habitat Restore or another used furniture source.
