I thought I'd start this thread with all the people who are 100% going to Irvine and see which dorm you guys picked or leaning towards more (just curious). Personally, I am hoping to live in Mesa for some obvious reasons: spacious rooms, more "social" people, etc.

Mesa. It’s more spread out and it’s like an oasis off campus. In terms of “social” people, you can’t really judge until the new class comes in.

I’m going for Middle Earth. Better food and center of campus (Mesa is really far from a lot of things), with only marginally smaller rooms.

stupid question:
Are these names that you mentioned the same as Camino del sor and Vista del compo?! :/

Camino and VDC are on campus apartments, they are typically the option for 2nd 3rd or 4th years.

Mesa’s atmosphere is nice, it feels more homely, relaxed more social, food however sucks versus Middle which is like a hotel, food is much better and near campus. Social life all depends on the people you associate with.

Mesa does have spacious rooms but there are some things you need to consider. Right now Mesa only has Lot 5 where you can eat and there is constant construction going on because they are trying to build a new cafeteria. Also I have heard that they are doing fire alarm checks constantly in the morning at 8.

Middle Earth does have smaller rooms than Mesa but it does have a lot of Pros. Middle Earth has its own gym and only Middle earth residents can use it. There are two places where you can eat and Brandywine stays open til midnight Monday through Thursday. Middle Earth is closer to the Campus as well.

I came into Middle Earth thinking that the people weren’t going to be as “social” but I was completely wrong. I talk to my hall mates everyday and we always do stuff together. It really just depends on what type of people are in your hall.
