future business leaders of america

have any of u guys heard of this organization? i know that its a business-related group, but what do they do exactly? if anyone is actually in a local chapter of this and can tell me some stuff about it, i would really love that. im thinking about starting up this club at my school, since we're new and dont have that many clubs to choose from (esp. involving business).

if anyone can give me info on the club or how to start it, etc. id really love that.

In my opinion, it is stupid.

Visit www.fbla-pbl.org, and it has all the registration info. I am in the club, and it offers many competitions on both the state and regional levels; everything ranging from public speaking to computer concepts to entrepreneurship. FBLA is only active in some parts of the country; I hear that CA has DECA (sp?) instead. It's fun if you qualify for national competition; this year, it's in Orlando and you stay at the Walt Disney Resort. Hope that helped.

inept: Do you happen to know what DECA does. My school (in FL) has DECA, also, but here, its really associated with business/fashion marketing, fashion not being a real focus of my life. Is FBLA fun to be in?

FBLA here is a lot of fun to do. It's pretty laid back, not a whole lot of meetings or commitment, but everyone who wants to do well in their competitions attends worknights and such. If you're interested in any field even remotely related to business, there will probably be an FBLA event for you.

I've never heard of DECA, so I can't help you with that one.

But FBLA is pretty cool. =P

not really related, but have u guys heard of Future Medical Leaders of America? I'm looking for info on the club, but i can't find a website about it

FBLA is sweet. you can do things like "parliamentry procedures." "mr. president" "the chair recognizes -----" "i move to....blah blah blah"

i hope i do well at state, going to nationals for free would be sweet.
i cant believe they made state march 31st. im going to be a mess not knowing whether i got in or not at all these schools.

DECA is a "marketing club." you can write 30 page papers and give a presentation to judges. or you can do a role-play activity and take tests on general marketing and a specific area. it's pretty fun =) ..there's a district competition, and the finalists go to the state competition. the "international" one is in anaheim, CA this year.
