<p>Hello!</p>

<p>I am trying to finalize my college list ASAP. Advice and suggestions would be awesome!</p>

<p>International
SAT1: 800 M 610 V (retake in Nov 6)
SAT2: Math IIC: 800, Math IC: 800, Writing: 680 (retook in Oct 9), Biology: took in Oct 9</p>

<p>GPA: 4.9/5.0 (5.9 is highest possible I believe)</p>

<p>Varsity in all sports except XC. Captain in the two Track seasons.</p>

<h2>Community Service: Does not seem to matter as my school does not report or require them. But a little over 100 hours.</h2>

<p>I don't plan to release it to any colleges. Top 35%.</p>

<p>(correct me, someone, if I'm wrong) I don't believe you have a choice. Your college counselor will submit that anyways in the secondary school report.</p>

<p>I think that Cornell and Columbia will be definite reaches. However, I hope you prove it otherwise.</p>

<p>No. Our school, at least, has an option for students to only release the GPA, not the rankings. Thank you paradeus.</p>

<p>You have a good balance- you're clearly smart (SAT I/II scores) and very athletic. Might just do it for the ivies.</p>

<p>Don't you mean that the middle chunk of my list are match schools while purdue is my safety?</p>

<p>I think I am VERY weak in terms of clubs that aren't related to sports. I have two and I have/will hold no positions that demonstrate leadership.</p>

<p>I have considered UCLA and UC Berkely but it seems like I have little chance and students receive less attention from faculty due to big classes. Is this only a myth?</p>

<p>UVA used to be on my list but my friend said I would never get in because it is out of state and highly favors its residents. I assumed the UCs would be similar.</p>

<p>Yes,lol, that's what I meant.</p>

<p>UCSD is a good UC, and it's SAT average is in the low 1200's. It's still top 30, despite having relatively low admission standards.</p>

<p>I know it would DEFINATELY be a safety for you, but University of Delaware has one of the top five engineering programs in the country. I don't know much about engineering, but I have had friends who chose University of Delaware engineering over ivy leagues...just a suggestion for another safety. I also think you have good chances at your reach schools.</p>

<p>I'm considering taking off Purdue.</p>

<p>It is a safety school but I have been reading bad reviews (although I cannot judge their validity). Their academics are good but students rarely get their top class choices and there are tons of TA taught classes.</p>

<p>On the other hand, I have added Northwestern as a 3rd reach school. But again, I am not so sure. Its admission rates are 'intimidating.' Only a seventh of all international applicants get in and its median SAT 1 scores are: 700 range verbal, 710~800 math.</p>

<p>If my chances are too low for Northwestern, should I give up? I do find the school itself to be very attractive.</p>

<p>I've replaced University of Illinois with University of Wisconsin - Madison.</p>

<p>You really picked it up soph and junior year. good job with the improvement. Good shot at every school, though GIT Lehigh Cornell and Columbia can always be tricky for engineering program admissions.</p>
