Future in Finance- Yale or Dartmouth?

Son was admitted to Yale and Dartmouth colleges; his current plan is a math/econ major and likely career in business/finance after working and pursuing an MBA. Please share your opinions about the pros and cons of attending Yale vs. Dartmouth for this future direction?

"Google and Microsoft recruiters often go unnoticed on a campus better known for its strong pool of investment banking and consulting connections, but lately, these tech companies are adding more and more Yalies to their respective payrolls."

Just some backup to what I want to say:

Yale has a really good economics department and has an Economics and Mathematics major (as opposed to double major in Economics and Mathematics). It is also ridiculously well-connected with the finance world. There is a lot of recruiting going on on-campus.

I can't really comment on Dartmouth.

Obviously Yale has a clear edge in terms of its track record at getting brilliant students and sending them on to the top MBA programs (it has a better track record than any other school), but the real question is, which school is best for your son? What environment will he thrive in? He should ideally visit each school, take a few classes, stay over at each for a weekend evening, and see for himself which one he likes best.

I feel the same way. I plan on majoring in Econ and want to go into banking. How much does the average graduating i-banker earn? Are there any higher paying professions available?

As an analyst, you can make over 100k at a top firm (such as Goldman)... but they also OWN your life.

And no, as far as I know there are no higher paying professions.

I-banking = soul-selling.

I hate the fact that so many extremely interesting people who could end up doing great things end up selling themselves and taking the job that pays best - regardless of how terrible life can become (they have BEDS at many of these i-banking offices - not for naps, for overnight sleeping).

There's more to life than money, I think?
