Which university (BS in Aerospace Engineering) can I transfer into?
- Current School: 4-year Univ. in North Carolina, US
- Cumulative GPA: 4.0 and most of them are A+
- Completed Courses: Will complete 60 semester credits (including Calculus III, Physics II, Chemistry I, English II, and some engineering classes)
- Grade: Will be a junior when transferring
- Position: Honor student and will finish 2 courses, including Calculus III and Statics
- Test Scores: TOEFL ibt 100/120 but No SAT score
- Outside Activities: None and never done volunteer and internship
- Plus: WRCS faculty choose the best of several essays authored by students in English 101 and 202 (required English courses for all students) and publish those essays in Ink: Chronicles in Composition. I was selected for it.
Well I mean, where are you looking to transfer? There are so many places that are possible. Have you looked into any yourself? Have you done research on what courses you can transfer to your desired university? I’m pretty sure you can answer your own question with research. Also, will you have 60 credits when you transfer or when you apply? I know most universities don’t accept students with over 60 credits. So if you apply with 60 credits done, and are looking to take more credits during next fall and spring it might affect your chances.
I appreciate your comment! I plan to apply to some of those schools: Cornell, Michigan at Ann Arbor, New York, UT Austin, Purdue, Pittsburgh, CU Boulder, Amherst, Resselaer Polytechnic, etc.
I also checked required courses for transferring to Aerospace Engineering Department at each school, and my completed classes and credit hours satisfy the requirements.
Although I guess that I am competitive on GPA and required transferable courses and credit hours, I do not have any outstanding extracurricular experience.
For top public engineering schools, a top GPA (especially in STEM subjects) is most important. Very selective privates are looking to shape their (rather small) undergraduate student body.
Are you planning on working back in Japan? Not in the US, right?
