Future journalism majors.

Does my high school prep seem smart for a future journalist:

Science (3 years): Earth Science, Bio Hon, Chem
Math (3 years): Geometry Hon, Alg II/Trig, Pre-Calc Hon
English (4 years): includes honors and AP Lang/Comp and AP Lit/Comp
Social Studies (4 years): includes hon World History, AP U.S. history, AP European History, and AP Microecon.
German language (4 years)
Newspaper (4 years):
9th grade: staff writer
10th grade: ad manager
11th grade: assistant editor
12th grade: editor-in-chief.

Basically, is my decision to skip math/science senior year stupid?

Also, electives include a business class freshmen year and a lot of music classes including choir and band.

Well, what schools do you want to go to?

Ithaca (top choice)
Emerson (second)
University of Colorado - Boulder (saftey)

you could probably do better than ithaca college for journalism considering its location

I've also read that very few journalists actually major in communication as undergrads

If you are willing to go to a cold place like Ithaca, how about Syracuse/Newhouse?

Ithaca is a possibility. Although I don't know how relevant it is now, my journalism teacher in HS went to Ithaca and I think she studied at Cornell too. She went on to a fairly successful career working for print newspapers, magazines, etc., before she had kids. She only began teaching after she got out of journalism and her kids had grown up a bit.

The creme de la creme of journalism schools: The Medill School at Northwestern.

Some other cremes:
E.W.Scripts School of Journalism at Ohio U.
U. of Missouri
Annenberg School of Journalism at USC
Columbia School of Journalism
....and the ones mentioned above.
