Goal: Transfer to NYU Stern by Junior Year
Current Majors at RU: Economics & Management

What are my chances of getting the transfer?
When should I apply? I ideally want to be there my Junior Year.
What classes should I be taking?
Is it worth transferring?
What type of GPA should I maintain?

My Stats:
High School GPA: By end of senior year I kept above a 3.0 but it was low.
Came from a very competitive high school, most kids went to IVY's and what not.
did not try in HS, was fine with going to rutgers
when I applied to college my junior year cum gpa was 3.2 uw and 3.6 w

Go to the NYU website and see the additional requirements for Stern transfer applicants. They have details of the courses that you should take.

In terms of GPA, I think a 3.7+ would put you in a decent position, but try to make it as high as possibly.

Transferring in as a junior is exceptionally hard, best after freshman year (which you’ve already missed the deadline for). Good luck. My recommendations would be:
- GPA (this is the single overarching factor)
- ECs (do as much as you can to demonstrate leadership and involvement balanced with your academics)
- search out recommendation sources and develop relationships (transfer recs are crucial)

If your college GPA turns out as expected, your SAT scores are still low. Stern however, has about a 12% acceptance rate for incoming freshmen and even lower for transfers. They also have the ability to only accept the most qualified students that apply, as it is one of the best business schools in the country. That being said, by all means you should apply. Just don’t expect a guaranteed acceptance.

I’m with you on this one man. I’m trying to transfer to NYU Stern from a Los Angeles community college for this up coming fall 2012.

GPA: 3.76 but will try to raise it to 3.8 by the time i transfer
ECs:2 internships at a financial advisory firm and a summer internship at Morgan Stanley. I trade my own personal options/futures account and have been doing so since i was a senior in high school
Units completed:90+ (reason being universities in california require you do your IGETC which is your general education prior to transferring)

I did most of Sterns required courses except accounting.

I’m applying to a lot more schools around the US but i really want to get into NYU

What are my chances guys?

Thanks

bummp… updated stats… need more feedback!

That will bring my cum GPA to for freshmen year 3.765

This summer… I’ve been taking that class and have a full time job at verizon wireless. I ended up being a top ranked salesman in my first
month of working… don’t know if that looks good the resume…

If I apply this fall for spring what do you think my chances are?

I know my SAT’s are low and my HS grades aren’t great… but hopefully my results in college show me in a better light

Stern does NOT consider applications for Spring.
