Future Political Science Major, What AP Classes Should I Take?

Wow, I have to find a way to definitely take both…I’ll have to figure it out.

As a senior about to head to college and wanting to double major in Political Science and Economics, I have taken a lot of AP social studies courses.

AP World, AP European, AP US History- taken at my high school
AP Government and Politics, AP Human Geography- through my state’s public school online courses option
AP Comparative Politics, AP Microeconomics, AP Macroeconomics- through Northwestern University Gifted Learning program

I also took AP English Lit, AP English Language, and AP Computer Science.

My school has a terrible testing record for AP math and science courses so I actually took community college Biology and Calculus to get the guaranteed college hours instead of hoping for them through AP testing.

If you have the opportunity, I would highly recommend the Northwestern courses. They are self-paced and can even be taken over a summer. Just make sure your high school will accept your credits first. I feel that they taught me more than the majority of the classroom courses I completed. I compete in a lot of Model UN competitions and feel that the AP Comparative Politics course was the most beneficial in preparation for those.

If I had a regret, not taking Stats would be that. I don’t think it kept me from getting into my first college choice, but it is required for graduation in college for my major and it would have been nice to have the exposure to it before college.

Can I just say that FDR is my favorite president too? I too want to major in political science, but also in molecular biology as well.

Haha
