future QUALITY

Alright guys, so I know there's a prestige thread chillin' out on this board right now, but what I am wondering is less whether Tulane will retain its level of prestige than what is happening to its quality as an academic institution. I've not actually, y'know, been down there and scouted around...obviously the city is upside down, but how/how much is it affecting the school?

I want to know about the academic quality of the school, the neighboring areas (not their academic quality, their habitability), etc...

okay i was down there thursday (4/6) to saturday (4/8). academically tulane will be fine, I have been to plenty schools and info sessions and I was very impressed with tulane's programs. They reorganized their undergraduate program and it seems to be very strong. Thus far they have retained almost all of their undergraduate facutly. If you were to go to the school you would not even know there was a hurricane. In terms of surrounding areas it really isn't bad, I saw a couple houses with a trailer infront but the house looked fine. I saw very little damage as a whole in New Orleans. I think Tulane is on its way to being better than it was, even the area where the kids hang out is doing great, new stores are opening and everything looks awesome.

quality will probably increase since the school has increased the money and attention/proirity given to the academic areas Tulane already excelled in before Katrina and eliminated its weaknesses-------Tulane is fine, and is as beautiful as ever, so is the surrounding (st.charles/uptown) neighborhood; everyone's back and going about their daily business as usual---east NOLA, in my opinion, (coming in from the east on I-10) has along way to go....its almost surreal, but the vibes coming from those places that have been destroyed give you a truly amazing feeling......such a sense of inspiration----i don't know you really need to go there if you are really considering tulane and make your own assesment if you are to truly believe me...the e-mails that i'm sure tualne has hounded you with might sound gimicky and silly, but they seriously aren't lying......Tulane is fine physically and academically (if not better)...NOLA is an open workshop (jobs right now/volunteer opps. are copious)....almuni giving is waaayy up and its a great time to get a scholarship. To be honest I've never been more impressed with a school (i've visited over ten and applied to eleven)----tulane most definitely has a unparalled sense of resiliency. trust the school is being honest, they are not just practicing salesmanship
