My daughter is hoping to eventually be accepted as a business major @UF. Please let me know if this schedule is competitive. I tent to feel like it’s almost too many AP and AICE classes.

The schedule is very competitive. Taking all honors/AP/AICE (and IB/Duel Enrollment) classes is fine.
It’s really a question of how much of a load can your daughter handle. If they need to drop an AP class and switch it with another, then go ahead. You daughter needs to find the right balance between rigor and quality of life, but they do need to be pushed a bit.
Good Luck!
It seems like Aice is easier than AP which is why I put her in Aice Marine instead of AP bio or chem. I’m also wondering what other classes she could dual enroll instead of taking the AP. I want her to have a life. I grew up in Massachusetts and the schools don’t even allow kids to take AP freshman year and maybe one as a Sophmore. The kids there graduate with far less AP classes than we do and their schools are ranked so much higher. I hate that these kids feel so much pressure to take so many AP.
S found Dual Enrollment to be FAR easier than AP classes. His DE classes were taught at local CC. We didn’t let hiim take them until senior yr. I mention that because he was pretty upset with us because they provide a major GPA boost which likely prevented him from being valedictorian. He took all the AP classes (school only offered 8), but his classmates took those plus many DEs (some graduated with AA degrees - he was still top 5%). We just thought he should stay on HS campus, get the normal HS experience, etc. In the end it all worked out fine.
In junior year, Spanish 3 (perhaps through DE) and physics would be better (DE Physics ONLY if for non majors, AICE or honors physics ok) .
I think this is a very competitive schedule and maybe even too much so. UF also looks at the total number of academic units and this schedule ticks those boxes as well. For my kids, we focused on taking as many academic classes as are reasonable and then AP classes that we know they CAN be successful in. All schools will first look at the GPA. A “B” in an AP class is not better than an “A” in an honors class from a gpa perspective, so i believe you need to have a good balance. UF wants superstars and B’s in AP classes won’t get you there.
Lastly, if the schedule is so rigorous that it is all consuming, then the kid will not have time for ECs and for the chance to be a kid. UF wants well rounded students who will contribute to the university community.
Anyway, just one guy’s opinion…
She loves math, hates science (hence the absence of AP bio, chem or physics). Honestly I think she has just not liked her teachers in science thus far. . Could live without social studies but does well. Does very well in English. What AP classes would you change to honors or dual?
@Jenwyman30 Does her school offer AP Art History? Honestly, if that’s an option, I would take that over AP Environmental. APES had a very easy AP exam (in my opinion) but does not do anything credits-wise aside from just being an elective. Passing AP Art History can fulfill a humanities and diversity credit for gen eds and save you some money there!
Top schools like UF want to see bio, chem, physics - not necessarily AP or even honors but they want to see the student exposed to it. She could take physics regular instead of AICE marine?
We do have AP art history but not sure if she has any interest. She did take honors bio and chem but she despises chem. Maybe I can convince her to take AP Bio. I was putting in Aice marine and AP enviro to give her a little bit of a break. Maybe I should do dual in Bio?
Physics is not like chem. She does not need to take AP chem or AP Bio, but he does need some form of physics, even regular. APES would be fine for senior year. Also, AP art history is relatively hard - the schedule needs balance, not more APs.
I could do AICE physics instead of AICE marine. I don’t think we have regular or honors physics.
