First of all, hi!
I'm writing you from Croatia, and I'm hoping you'll help me. Now I'm sophomore and I was wandering about studying in USA. I've been reading a lot about it on many different sites, but there are still some questions I want to ask. At this point, my GPA is 4.53, I have 16 different subjects, some extracurricular activities and I've been training Track&Field for 3 years now. If I write my SAT good, what chances do I have getting on universities?
Thx.

Please guys!

You need to read everything, and I do indeed mean everything at [EducationUSA | Study Abroad, Student Visa, University Fairs, College Applications and Study in the U.S. / America](http://www.educationusa.state.gov/) Then you need to make an appointment with one of the counselors at the advising center closest to you. There is one in Zagreb [EducationUSA - Center Profile - INSTITUTE FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF EDUCATION (IDE)](http://www.educationusa.info/Zagreb) The people at this office have experience helping students from your country find good places to study in the US.

Take some time to think about your career goals, and how you could pay for your education if you came to the US. Then you will have a better idea about the kinds of questions you need to find answers for.

Wishing you all the best!

Excellent suggestion by happymom.

Set some criteria for your university search like location, major, size, reputation, cost etc then go through the university websites to get an idea about their international student admission requirements / policies. Call your favorite universities up to get any questions answered.

Best thing you can do is to make a clear and informed decision.

Thanks for the information guys. My first choice is Stanford, but I also have other universities in plan. I read all those links, and next week I’m going to see the counselor. I’m hoping for some financial aid, and the rest of it I’ll have to pay myself. Should I take the SAT now, or wait a year and improve my skills?

Take it both now and later.

Take it two times! But try a practice test first and if you score too low study a bit before taking it for the first time (obviously)!

I took my first SATs when I was ending my junior year. The system in Brazil is different, however, so I should say I took it when I was in the first semester of my junior year. I am taking it again on June (that will be the middle of my senior year BUT it would be the end of your/US junior year.
Most people take it more than us.
FYI my scores were:
CR 650
Math 720
Writing 770

I am taking it again to get better Math and CR scores
and I am also applying to Stanford, although it is not my 1st option

Ps
I didn’t mean “take it more than us”
I meant take it more than ONCE
sorry
