Hello, I am currently a senior in High School, and I have decided to take the Community College path to getting into a UC. I have constantly looked into assist.org for information to transfer, but I have a couple of questions I hope people can help me answer.

I am looking into a Pharmacology Major and looking at UCI, UCSD, UCD, or UCSB to attain my Bachelor’s Degree. My questions are

How do AP test help my GE at Skyline College? (Biology, Chemistry, and Calculus BC)

What is the average GPA for a Chemistry major for transferring?

Thank you ahead of time for helping me.

Pharmacology is only offered at SB, last I checked

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure high school AP tests won't help you. The more advanced coursework you can do prior to CC the better, but I don't think AP tests do anything.

Unrelated -- Incidentally, my mother is the head of a department and part of the administration at Skyline. I've never actually set foot on their campus, but I hear it's nice.

Good luck.

I don't know bout community college, but for UCSD some ap scores can cancel you out of classes, well i'm not sure cancel is the right word but u can skip that class if you got a certain ap score they want, however that doesn't happen very often. and we offer pharm chem, my friend is that major, seems pretty hard but she's doing alright.

in terms of HOW to transfer i've never done it before but i know how to transfer classes from cc to ucsd, if the class is equilvalent to a class at ucsd you'll have no problems, similar classes can be appealed and maybe passed for credit

AP scores DO help you at your college. If you scored a 3 or higher on them, call collegeboard and have them send the AP scores to your school (you will need to do this again when you transfer to whatever UC). I know several people that are pharmacological majors at UCSD, or at least intend to go into that field. Why are there so many nowadays? They all tell me that it's "ok." lol

I'm afraid the average GPA information is only released by UCLA. If you look at Chemistry in general, their average admitted GPA is 3.53 with an acceptance rate of 61% (not bad, really).
