Future Visit?

Does anyone know of a good place to stay that's near the campus, hopefully within walking distance. We are planning a visit. Also does anyone know if Northeastern interviews the students? On the web site it doesn't appear so. My son may be interested in either the pharmacy program, or maybe engineering.

Boston is extremely easy to get around by public transportation. I am going back up there early april for the post-acceptance visit and can't stay with my usual friends. I actually found a fairly good rate (for a popular city) on line at the Park Plaza of all places by booking fairly close the to trip, only 2 T stops away. There were also more modest motels in some of the neighborhoods... as long as you are near a T stop, or even a bus stop, you can view the rides to and from the schools you are visiting as part of the general touring of the city! The city is also small enough so that many sights are within walking distance of each other (or just one or two T stops).
Good luck and enjoy your time in Boston!

I found the Hilton Copley to be well situated within walking distance of the school and adjacent to the Prudential Center. Hotel is very comfortable at about $200 per nite.

Also suggest you check out tripadvisor.com- a valuable travel resource.

If you are on a tight budget - and only want a bed to sleep in - the closest and cheapest is the Midtown Hotel which is right on Huntington, only 1 T stop from the school.

scansmom, I'm staying there in April because I need parking... is it awful? I'm only staying one night..

Midtown is really not that bad--it is very clean, good-sized rooms, and as ebeeeee mentioned, there is parking. But definitely not a luxury hotel. However, it is within walking distance of the school. I would stay there again since I am on a pretty tight budget!

We stayed at the Hampton Inn and it was a 5 minute drive. Great hotel, fairly new, great rooms. In fact, on our visits that's almost all we stayed at and only once was it not almost perfect! The one near NE is near a big hospital, I don't remember which one. It had a restaurant that my son got desert from at 11pm and they had hot cc cookies at 4pm!

When I go to Boston, I use priceline to book a hotel and usually end up at either the Hilton or something comparable for around $100 to $120 (priceline 4 star category). It always works well since most hotels in the area are good and near the T.
