Hi :) I'm a current bio major/planning to be a bio major when I enter Cornell this fall. I've always planned on further study after my undergrad and most likely research of some sort. As of right now, I DO NOT plan on attending med school, but lately I've been really warming up to the idea of Public Health (not sure what type yet). I'm also planning on attempting double-majoring with government or history. Would the bio and society major make more sense than general biological sciences (not sure what my concentration would be yet)? Which is a better major for grad work in public health or further grad work/research in biology? The input of any current/former Bio&Soc or bio majors would be much appreciated! :)

If you do intend on going into public health, biology and society would be a great choice. If I am not mistaken it is offered at three colleges so assuming you are in CALS, Humec, or Arts and Sciences, you shouldn’t have too much of a problem switching majors. From what I know (going to be a bio and society major next year), the major is very versatile and is suited for people going into medicine, public health, law, business, etc. As for which is better, I am not entirely sure how that would work but when you get to Cornell in the fall be sure to ask your adviser.
