Where can I see the full list of FWS offered for Fall 09? It's better to get a comprehensive list that groups ALL FWS, and not by department or major.
Also, what time do we start balloting on July 30th?

it comes out on the 27th

and it doesnt really matter what time since its not first come first serve (i believe)

I believe we have like 8 days or something to fill out our ballots, it doesn’t matter when we do it just that we get them in.

If you search for classes on JTF and go to advanced search —> Keyword Match: FWS, you can actually get the full list now.

Whats JTF?

“Just the Facts”; Go to cornell.edu and just type in JTF into the search bar.

<a href=“Cornell University Web Login”>https://fws.arts.cornell.edu/ballot/index.cfm just click list courses w/o changing any dept any time

or just go to studentcenter.cornell.edu

Should we ballot for an FWS even if we’re planning to take AP credit, on the off chance that we drop a class later?

…Or you can take an FWS to get it over with anyway since you need 2 and AP only takes care of 1…

Nah, I hate writing and would rather put it off until I’m more settled into college. Not get barraged by it as soon as I get there.

we need TWO FWS’s ???
is this for freshmen across campus or college-specific?

Pretty sure all freshmen do.

^^ All freshman need two: one in the fall, one in the spring.

^ False. You need 2 before you graduate, and one can be substituted by AP with 5 from Lang or Lit. I know seniors who take FWSes because they never got around to taking their second one.

ok so we definitely need TWO FWS’s (that’s 6 credits from FWS) to graduate?
sorry i was confused because the CALS requirement page only said
“6 credits of WRITTEN ENGLISH (e.g. 2 FWS’s)”
that e.g. was misleading

For CALS I believe if you take 1 AP for FWS, that means you still need something else to fulfill that part. I’m not sure though because I’m A&S.

engineering students can get out of one with a 5 on ap english lang or lit

…ANY student can get one out with 5 on Lang or Lit, just that for CALS I think you’re still obligated to some form of a writing class even if you get out of one FWS.
