When we sign that sheet of paper stating we will serve our commitment, the United States Government agrees it will pay for our education.

Even if they decided to close down the school, all of the classes still there (or at least the 2nd and 1st classmen) would have to have their education completed and paid for by the government.

Because every few years there is this scare, every class here has at one point or another thought they would be the last KP class

Your right is2day4him i was out of line.

I missed a lot of action here...I was traveling for work.

Hilary will not be president, there is no need to work about KP closing in the next four years. Why would McCain, who spoke there, close it? Not going to happen anytime soon.

Lots of valid points and facts in this thread. I agree with the fact that if you are determined to go Navy flight, suck it up and go to attempt Annapolis. Yes, you can do it from KP...maybe get into the program with less competition but you will not have the leadership training training required to be great Naval Officer.

As for the why the four main Academies will stay around forever...it's history and heritage. West Point is just as prestigous as an Ivy League school. They will never close up shop.

I have a simple question from the first post:

What is "higher authorization for the Academy in the Senate bill" all about?

Incereased capital spending i.e. get the dorms renovated sooner.
