FYI, at least 19,000 Applications this year

"...and a record number of more than 19,000 students has applied for admission for the next academic year."

"" "" 2012: 16,944 (> 31%)

Seniors: 11,663
Cousin ('05): 9,746
Older Cousin ('04): 8,886 (Meaning somewhere around a 125% increase in apps in a decade...I also think this is where the slope really calms down [Gee].)

Hilarious.

Assuming admissions continues to try for the high score in the rankings game, we might see an acceptance rate less than 20% this year with just a medium sized wait list...good luck regular decision kids.

Other considerable rankings:
Playboy Party School List 2002 - #24 (Currently being re-complied for a new publishing)
Princeton Review Little Race/Class Interaction - #20
Princeton Review Major Frat and Sorority Scene - #11

anyone have the numbers for EDI and EDII so we can figure out the admissions rate. Based on Dartmouths ED rate the regualr decision admit rate will be between 10 and 11 percent.

Balls. Large, hairy, sweaty balls.

^Agreed.

I vote admit rate is 18%.

Wow, those are some tough percentages! I guess they weren't kidding about the millions of kids graduating this year. How do they even go about picking the kids they will accept - what a tough job! Good luck to all you RD applicants.

Anyone guessing SAT/ACT ranges for this admits this year?

33-35 ACT and 1450-1560

There is NO WAY the ACT range will be 33-35. Harvard's was 31-35 last year, Stanford's was 30-34. As great of a school as Vandy is, it isn't going to surpass schools with selectivity of those ivies, at least not at the time being.

Are you sure those aren't for enrolled students? I was talking about admits (Vandy's last year was 31-34).

I think those figures are for admitted students, but I wouldn't put money on it. 33-35 would be an extremely frightening statistic though, for what it's worth. Regardless, I'm just thanking god I applied ED 2 and not RD and that I rocked my ACT, so standardized tests are the least of my concerns haha

It may be 32-34.

But then again, it seems that Vandy treats ECs perhaps even more substantially than test scores.

I still think that only 12,000 qualified students applied and ther other 7,000 came from people who used a fee waiver or paid fifty bucks "just to see if they'd get in".

Similar to Harvard, and the like.

But still, were competing against 12,000 qualified applicants. It's going to be luck for the people who don't have 1470+ SAT scores and bazillions of community service hours/obviously-amazing-ECs.

out of curiosity I checked this board/thread, i applied to vandy in 2001 and got in with a 1330, and i believe at the time I was above the median, how times have changed....
