<p>probably because the first is a saturday, a holiday, and no one will be back in the offices until the 3rd</p>

<p>It’s been that on commonapp ever since I started my applications. like in september.</p>
<p>^ Well on the Common App. it always stated that it was due the 3rd of January, but the BU website originally said that freshman applicants had to send in everything by the 1st. I was confused at first when I was trying to apply because I wasn’t sure which source to listen to. Now the website says in red they extended the deadline to the 3rd. THANKGOD. I just started my supplement essays today … Ha … Ha. Yeah, I tend to procrastinate … a lot.</p>
<p>^^Jenonymous haha don’t feel too bad! I kinda wrote them back in Oct., but it was more brainstorming notes in paragraph form, and they were way to long! Not to mention I used a limited vocab. So yeah, I’m pretty much writing them and fixing them up tonight and tomorrow!</p>

<p>Yes, BU did this last year when I applied. They gave us until Jan 4th I believe, but I submitted it on time anyway.</p>

<p>If the deadline is 1/1, you have until 1/1 11:59:59 PM (EST?) to submit it. I think CommonApp is based on EST time.</p>
<p>Yeah its eastern. But there’s usually a grace period after. The common app website says they’ll accept an app so long it’s submitted within a reasonable amount of time from the deadline.</p>
<p>recneps - I think it means it’s due on January 3rd. You have until 11:59 PM to submit it on that day.</p>

<p>Don’t bet on the grace period. Common App might accept it, BU might not. Just get it in on time seeing as you are getting an extension. Returning back to BU for semester two soon :)</p>
<p>If commonapp accepts it, so does the college. commonappguy explained this in the Common Application forum. Colleges determine the grace period.</p>
