Does anyone know how the grade scale and GPA works at UF? What percentage is an A?? Is it 94-100% or 90-100?

90-100.

Im pretty sure all public high schools and most private high schools in florida use the same scale.

At UF, it starts out at 90-100%, but you can usually get an A with a grade < 90% in your more difficult courses due to curves. Also,

A = 4 points
B+ = 3.5 points
B= 3 points
C+ = 2.5 points
C= 2 points
D+ = 1.5 points
D = 1 point
E = 0 points

Your gpa will of course be those points times the course hour divided by total credits. So if you had 2 B's, a B+, and 2 A's with 3 credits each, your gpa would be:

[3(3) + 3(3) + 3(3.5) + 3(4) + 3(4)]/15 = 3.5

Is that how the GPA works for UF classes as well? That's a pretty generous grading system...

That's the system. Just A/A+ etc. system. I heard they might introduce minus grades, but I'm not sure if that's just a rumor. I like the system, I wouldn't say it's generous, I think it's pretty fair.

No that's very generous...if you are going to give plus grades, there should also be minuses. I go to George Washington, and the grading scale is: A=4.0,
A-=3.7, B+=3.3, B=3.0, B-=2.7, C+=2.3, C=2.0, C-=1.7, D+=1.3, D=1.0, D-=0.7, F=0.0. To get an A, I normally have to make a 94 or higher. O well. I am applying to UF for graduate school so hopefully they will recalculate my GPA in my favor.

I read somewhere that while UF does run on the a+-4.5 a-4.0 etc scale, it also adds .5 for Honors and 1.0 for AP. Does anyone know if this is true??? I'm speaking in terms of mostly the admission gpa recalculation

Yes: (I think thats that breakdown)
regular class A: 4.0
honors class A: 4.5
AP/IB class A: 5.0
