GA Tech Chances-IMPORTANT

Hi, I am an american permanent resident with Indian education (i am an Indian) I want to know if i can get admission into Georgia Tech .

I apply in October early action plan this year.

Assume that i write all the essays and stuff with average-good rating. Moreover does my international education and race affect my chance. If yes please tell how and is it good or bad that i am internationally educated ?

------------ACADEMICS---------------

-grade 10 = 9.2/10
-grade 11 = 1st term 79.2% (INDIAN HIGH SCHOOL IS VERY TOUGH)
= 2nd term-75%.
= Overall - 75.something %
-grade 12 = will send, haven't given the exams right now.

-SAT I = CR-650, Writing-660, Math-790 .
= total - 2100/2400 and 1440/1600 (CR+Math)

-SAT II = will give physics and Math IIC. expecting greater than 780 in Maths and a 800 in physics

------------COCURRICULARS----------

-Volunteer work in an organisation promoting education among poor. ( each one, teach one)
here i basically taught those who couldn't go to school basic English and Math. Have the certificate.

-I also have 3-4 more such volunteer work certificates. I am not writing them all down as it would take time. Just that all are of volunteer work in fields of education, Disaster managment etc. I am gonna explain these in detail in my application.

-LORs from physics teacher and math teacher.

------------PERSONAL---------------

-My real brother who is 6 years older than me got accepted into it for MTech (Master of Technology equivalent of MSc.) in EE. I want to do B.Tech and M.tech( if i get the option) in CE.
It says on their site that they consider Alumini relation. My brother wont be a alumini since he wont finish his college by the time i apply...but does this count?

Please tell me can i get into GA Tech...Thankyou for your consideration in advance

some1 please respond…i will chance back, just leave the link.

Just as a warning to everyone…

The ~75% does not mean the same thing that it does translate to letter grades the same way it does in American schools. It’s much a stronger average than the percentage implies, and universities understand this.

Chancing you is tricky, but I would say that you’re a competitive applicant.

Just for fun, revive a dead thread.

What will be your major?

I think you will most likely get in as long as you are willing to pay full fee.

I want to do Computer Engineering and i want financial aid as i live in india and paying the whole fee might be a little bit of a problem

I’d say it’s a high match to low reach. Your CR and Writing SAT scores aren’t as strong as some applicants, but I think the bigger problem is financial aid. It’s difficult for an OOS, let alone an international student, to get financial aid at a public university like Georgia Tech.

whats high match and low reach…i do not understand how you rate like this? Morover i am just internationally educated. I still am a American Resident.

Financial aid in a state school does not usually come free. I understand some schools may have grants but not always for out of state students.

They may be loans that you need to repay.

GA Tech: High match (or 20-40% chance to get in)

I knew Indian 75% averages wouldn’t mean the same as American 75% averages.

GA Tech does not give aid to internationals, but this student is a permanent resident so is treated as a domestic applicant for aid purposes.

OP, if you are not a GA state resident, financial aid is limited. It is not likely they will meet full need, so make plans accordingly.
