Anyone going to apply to Gatech ??? :) Just say hi in this thread

Hi! I am planning on applying with the early application. :)

I’ll be applying Early as well. Good luck and I hope we all make it.

Are you two in-state or out of state?
I live in Athens, so UGA is my plan B (if my luck is really low and I don’t get into GT early or regular admission).

I’m OOS. Purdue and Bucknell are probably my Plan B’s and C’s (not necessarily in that order yet) but I’m praying I don’t have to resort to Plan B.

I agree completely. If I do end up having to go to a Plan B school, I will do everything within my might to transfer as soon as possible. I am just hoping that the September ACT and October SAT raise my scores in time for EA…

I’m aiming for GT’s President’s scholarship :D

I am applying early admission GT…Emory early as well but GT is my 1st choice… UGA backup…hoping for president’s scholarship!!! good luck 2 everyone

Emory early application is binding, by the way.

And yes, good luck to all of you :)

I’m applying early to Tech. Anyone care to post their stats?

3.50 & 32 ACT. How about you guys?

It’s safe to say I’m nervous. I think it’ll be close (denied/accepted on reg decision). Did anybody do the essay yet?

Be careful of binding early admit programs. Seems like that is much more to the college’s benefit than yours. If you’re good, would they not make room for you later? Why commit so early when you have not gathered more information such as aid offers from several schools? So, don’t sell yourself short by thinking the only way you’ll get in is early. Why let one school have so much power over you?

^Well it’s not a bad decision if you have decided that it’s your #1. I don’t think majord realizes that Emory is binding. Since he said GT is his #1, I’m sure he will wait till regular now with Emory.

Unfortunately GT doesn’t have binding, or else I’d do it so it looks like I am not applying anywhere Early Decision. (Early admission/action = yes for GT plus maybe a couple of my other top schools if they have it).

Wonder how many President’s scholarships they are going to offer this year… COmpetition will be brutal.

Hey and yes I have re-thought applying binding to Emory… I just wanted to be able to get into their Scholars Program if I did not receive much financial help from GT but that is somewhat irrelevant since I am in-state. thanks to all for the help

Hey! I’m another person applying early action.

@Major

I have two close friends who both got emory scholars (one full tuition, one 1/3 tuition). It was not binding. I am not sure on a binding early action, but the both found out they were chosen for a scholarship in january-february and were deciding between different schools also.

I’m about to apply for transfer to GT next week :)

eh, 3.5 GPA and 2040 SAT with good EC’s. With a good 1st semester Senior Yr, I can get the GPA up to a 3.7 which may get me in. I’m starting the Tech Essay this weekend. Is there a word limit?

Are you 3.5 Tech Weighted or 3.5 Unweighted? Also ^, 5000 character limit. The average word is 5 letters + 1 space, so if you do 5000/6, you are looking at about no more than 833 words. Microsoft Word has a character check so you can get more specific, though.
