With upcoming RD on March 9th, we are trying not to hold our breath! Just wondering if anyone has input on the typical student that gets accepted at GA Tech. My son’s stats:
OOS: CT
GPA: 4.7
ACT: 35
SAT: 1580
APs: many
EC: Swim Team, Math Team, Jazz, Wind Ensemble, Regionals, Pit Orchestra, tutoring, work in physician’s office
So far have been accepted to Va Tech, University South Carolina but rejected from UVA and UTA. Computer Science is preferred major. He loved GT when we visited and really would love for this to be his place! Does anyone know what else GT looks for in their potential students?
they very much are about community service is whatever aspects that is. For example , a computer Science major helping their HS IT department, etc etc. Their “why GT essay” also seems to be important. Unfortunately they also prefer the instate students. Acceptance rates for OOS is pretty low. (there are other threads about this).
hi guys! i’m here from the EA thread. i was accepted into engineering (oos) w the provost scholarship, and i just wanted to wish all of you the best this coming march 9th! i didn’t think i had a chance when i applied but things, obviously, turned out differently
as for my stats, my standardized testing scores weren’t very competitive tbh. but i do have strong ECs with leadership and i also started a stem non-profit.
all in all, believe in yourselves and remember that your success is not measured by what school u go to <3
