GA Tech vs. Purdue

I'm in state for Purdue, but after spending a week there for a seminar this past summer, it just didn't feel like a place where I could flourish (perhaps the seminar was just run poorly, I have many friends who love it and can't imagine being anywhere else).
I'm currently also looking at Georgia Tech, and as the application is due October 15, I have to make my decision whether or not to apply very soon!
Any opinions? For those that attend GA now, or Purdue now, is applying to GA worth it (I'm definitely applying to Purdue no matter what because it's right around the corner)? I've grown up in the midwest and I've never ventured south, and all the other schools I'm applying to are either in the midwest or up east. I do prefer a more urban setting, however. I'm a bit of what you would call a soul searcher and wanderer.
I plan to study either industrial or chemical engineering.
Also, I'm very interested in the arts and I was wondering which school would be the best choice if I also choose to minor or study studio arts.
THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH.

Why don’t you check out UIUC which is only a couple hours away from Purdue? It has great ChemE (ChBE) and the school is at the same level as GA Tech.

Can you afford the price of the out-of-state public universities?

Minnesota and NCSU may have lower out-of-state list prices. However, out-of-state financial aid at public schools is typically minimal.

There are some merit aid if eligible. There is also a mid-west exchange program that may help paying oos tuition if within mid-west.
