how do GA tech vs. U Mich vs. UIUC compare in terms of quality of education, campus, social life, student's academic ability, and admission prospect

Well I dont really know anything about UIUC, but I applied to both Ga Tech and UMich. I find the schools to actually be pretty similar, both have major D1 sports programs, great school spirit, high ranked engineering programs, etc. The main difference is that GT is a tech school while UMich is a large well-rounded school, though Tech's liberal arts keep getting stronger.

tech is warmer, closer to the beach, and in downtown atlanta.....Girls what girls but Georgia state is next door and 65% girls UGA is an hour away and the GATech boys went to HS with the uga girls.

Tech is a tech school. Even the english classes are tech

what do ya mean by this??

The focus at GT is engineering/sciences. They have programs in management and liberal arts but they are very small and often ignored.

An easy majority of GT people are in quantitative fields.

UMich is more evenly spread out between pure sciences, liberal arts and business.

alrite is it that if you graduate from a tech school you are given some kind of a preference in other tech schools like MIT, Caltech etc if you are applying there for a post grad....

GA tech vs. U Mich vs. UIUC
Social life?

Gatech << UMich < UIUC
Gatech has no arts school.. So the male to female ratio is quite bad :(

well Umich is much better than UIUC in social life as far has i have heard....and yeah this is one downpoint of gatech....

"alrite is it that if you graduate from a tech school you are given some kind of a preference in other tech schools like MIT, Caltech etc if you are applying there for a post grad...."

Really? Are you saying that if i went to ga tech instead of Umich or UIUC i would have a greater chance to gain admission to caltech or MIT for graduate studies?

No, I believe he is asking that question. I don't know the answer, however.

i'll try to make it more clear....i was asking that if you goto a tech school would u be given a preference at other tech schools like MIT, Caltech (for ur post grad) 'cause the method of teaching is similar....i mean GaTech says that they have adopted their education system from MIT....so will this help if you want to pursue ur post grad in MIT??
