So I just got back from my stay at Georgetown and I must say I'm pretty excited. What did you all think?

OMG it was AMMAAAZIIING.. and the basketball game was sooo much fun!! I love the school spirit that the whole campus has.. and how friendly everyone is - no one is stuck up, contrary to popular belief. I think my favorite part was that they didn't try to push the school on you or criticize your other choices.. the school sold itself, it was perfect

That was sooo much fun!! I have to say that the basketball game was my favorite part...everyone was so spirited. Before going there I was worried about not meeting people but everyone was so nice and I made a ton of new friends (one of whom could be my potential roomie!) I didn't meet anyone that didn't enjoy this weekend or didn't like the school.

I went earlier in the week because I couldn't come to the weekend thing--I just did an overnight. And omg, Georgetown was AMAZING. Everyone was soooo nice I was just amazed!!! I really hope I get in!!

Any tips on things to see for people going to the March weekend? This is my last visit to G-town before my family and I decide for me to go there or not and I don't want to miss anything. Anybody sit in on any classes? Which ones are good?

cochrynn-wow, how many times have you visited gtown already? This was my first and only time because it's so far away. If you haven't actually stayed overnight, definitely do that! I don't know if you do for the gaap weekend. I actually liked not going on one of the gaap weekends because it felt more like a real campus. I went to an Art History class, it was actually pretty interesting and I don't like art that much either! Also talk to someone who's in your planned major. And ask LOTS of questions if there's anything you still don't know!

What's GAAP Weekend? and what's the march weekend?? Do you have to have been accepted early to go?

I didn't go on a GAAP weekend, but since people always have questions about the social life I'd try to check that out. If possible, stay with a student on a friday or saturday night and go to parties. See if you like the party scene for yourself. I would also try to talk to students studying your potential major to give you specific information.

GAAP is "Georgetown Admissions Ambassador Program." If you get accepted they invite you to come and visit during one of the four GAAP weekends. The first two are for EA acceptances and the last two are for anyone who has been accepted and would like to attend. They basically planned the 2 days we were there. We went on tours of the campus and dorms, had lunch with department chairs or deans (I'm not sure what their titles were), had icebreakers so we could meet incoming freshmen, attended info sessions about our college and also about activities, and we got lucky and got to attend a basketball game! They pretty much tell you everything about the school and its opportunities and make it fun at the same time.

You do need to have been accepted early to go to the March GAAP weekend. I would definately recomend going to King's Problem of God lecture or the Government lecture if they're offered again. If anyone else is in SFS, I'd have to say I was pretty impressed that George Tennet was sitting two rows behind me (though not necessarilly with his joke about past screw ups). I stayed overnight and would definately recommend checking out the rooftop parties. Living the dorm life and the basketball game were the highlights (though I still can't remember all of the fight song.)

That weekend was fantastic! I was also how impressed with how much Georgetown resembled the Washington, DC Beautiful People's Club. Seriously, some really dope girls there.

If you're going to stay with a student, ask what nights are normally bigger party nights for them. I stayed on a Friday (and there was still something to do) but he said Fridays were usually pretty boring compared to Thursdays and Saturdays.

ilovedogs, there's 3 more GAAP (Georgetown Admissions Ambassador Program) weekends. The first is for EA kids, then the other two are the next two weekends after regular decisions are mailed, I believe.

ahh thanks guys!! i want to go so badly! and it really wouldn't be hard for me-- i could just take a train from nyc... so you don't have to be accepted to go in march? ahh i want to... how do i sign up? thanks! :)

do you think i should just wait till i hear if i'm accepted/rejected RD? is that what you're doing?

You'll get an invitation probably with your acceptance letter.

Btw... how long is the train ride form nyc to washington?

GAAP weekend really was amazing. I mean, they absolutely did not force the school on you.... and that was the most perfect sellign point. All throuhgout the weekend, I tried to think of things that weren't perfect about Georgeotnw. And besides the construction (which will be finished for September, or at least I hear) there was nothing there that wasn;t absolutely perfect. The people, contrary to popular belief, were not stuck up at all. Everyone was welcoming, down-to-earth, and really fun! Also, the class sizes are really small. I went to the advanced spanish II class, and i really enjoyed myself.

Even Georgetowns colors are great-- grey and blue, what could beat that?

Let's see--- Healy hall is beautiful, the campus, i think, is the perfect size, excellent location

SFS, according to George Tenet, is the best internaiotnal relations school in the world

I bleed hoya blue! hahahah

omg i knowww gtown is the perfect school... i have visited 6 times in all I think, starting when I was 8 haha. i can't even explain how happy i would be if i got in... oy i'm such a long shot though just b/c of sats. i really hope those are not the ultimate deciding factor...

estrella- This will be my third trip to Georgetown. It's a long way from Florida so I don't want to miss anything!

That Problem of God class sounds interesting, I'll have to check out the courses offered when I go up. How did you guys go to parties and stuff at night? I'm going with my dad and, while I would love to party at the campus, I would feel bad leaving him all alone in the hotel room, lol. I went to Madam's Organ bar in the Adam's Morgan area last time I was there and it was so cool- Georgetown has a great club/bar scene. I got in even though I was only 17 at the time...heheh

Soooo much fun. I sat in on an Advanced Spanish II class. A little over my head but awweeeesome!!

Georgetown was amazing (I also went to the GAAP weekend), def. my dream school and Im defienetely atteding... The georgetown community was amazing, certainly having more school spirit that any football oriented school with a bunch of frats. I loved everything from the campus (even the dorms) to the students, and the class I attended (psych. dept. on William Harper) was amazing too. Much more laid back than other top schools, and the faculty and admin. seem to really care about the student. I loved it honestly, I hope many people get a chance to go.

im going to the gaap weekend on friday, and reading all these comments just got me so excited...every time i go to gtown i fall in love with it more and more, and i cant wait to go again....anyone else going this weekend?

do you just pay for the flight and they set you up with everything else?
