Gaap

I registered for GAAP from the 23rd-24th but can't seem to find much information about logistics. Where do we meet? Will accommodations be provided? I'm a bit unclear on what is going on.

We went to the GAAP w/e in March for early action students. You check in at Healy Hall and they provide you with info. You are not provided with boarding but are expected to stay in local hotels, not with students. We had a great time and thought it was very well run.

did you check in at your hotel before you checked in at Healy Hall? or did you check it at the hotel after the first day?

It’s not allowed to stay with students?

Georgetown does not have a formal “stay with students” program. If you know a Georgetown student, you can certainly set it up yourself. However, GAAP is very much geared towards you and your parents. If you haven’t yet visited Georgetown, I suggest you do. Georgetown is gorgeous this time of year. You also get a pretty good flavor of the school.

We drove down on Friday morning and went right to the late check in. Coming in on Thursday night would be preferable if possible. We checked into the hotel later in the day when there was a break in the schedule. There is plenty to do in the down time for parents such as shop on M Street, go to the Wash Monument, etc. but the schedule does include several programs for parents simultaneously with the students programs which I would definitely recommend attending. M Street is walkable and DC monuments, etc are a 5 minute cab ride. Some kids did stay in the dorms with people they knew and other kids stayed in the hotels with their parents.

You should get something in the mail after you register which includes information and a parking pass.

The University (except for special circumstances in the first GAAP weekend) does not provide housing for the GAAP weekend; however, there are ways to find students to stay with (people from your school, town, randoms met online). They won’t force you to stay with your parents, and you CAN stay with others
