All things being equal, which should I choose?
Choose Gabelli. You have the opportunity to major in buisiness in New York City. If I was in your situation I wouldn’t give that opportunity up. Not to mention, Fordham is a highly reputed school and has the better buisiness program out of your two choices.
Stats? What are your other options? Goals? Costs?
My S went to Gabelli at Fordham and was very happy there. I would say that Fordham has the better reputation and its NYC location is another plus. But I would also take into account any material price differential, which school you prefer etc.
Le Moyne gave a great scholarship and they pursued me. Waiting to hear from Fordham and UPENN. I have a 4.0 weighted average. SAT only 1340 but have instrument and all the extras.
See what happens in terms of your other acceptances and financial packages and then repost. Don’t make any decision until you have all the information.
Thanks. Still waiting.
If affordable, Gabelli>Madden
Hi, How about Gabelli vs. Bentley?
My S had that choice. Two excellent schools. You can’t possibly make a bad choice.
My S ultimately chose Fordham because:
- Fordham happened to offer better merit aid in his particular case (but both were affordable);
- He preferred NY over Boston (personal preference); and
- Perhaps most importantly he liked the idea of being in a more well rounded school with students in all kinds of different majors as compared to being in a primarily business oriented college. That is totally personal preference and another person might reasonably prefer to be in the type of business college setting that Bentley provides. He felt that if he decided he didn’t like business that he could stay at Fordham and switch out of the b-school (he did not switch out but he liked having the option) where he might have to leave Bentley if he decided he didn’t want to pursue a busienss major.
- One thing you might want to also look at is the large liberal arts core curriculum that Fordham has. If it is unappealing to you then it may make Bentley a preferred option.
Honestly, I do think that two people could make two different decisions between those schools and each choice could each be the right one for that individual.
Thank you. I tend to agree with you. Unfortunately, Bentley gave me a more attractive offer; I’m just trying to justify Gabelli at the much higher price tag. I feel like I’m looking at job offers.
