I'm so so so disappointed.

I WANTED foothill because I’m an engineering major. I put Foothill as 2 of my choices. BUT I GOT CLARK KERR. Whyyyyy?

I’m going to be a humanities major! WHAT IS THIS NONSENSE.

Haha, Clark Kerr last year sucked. The walk from CKC to Etcheverry saved me from the freshman 15.

For those of you in Foothill and Clark Kerr – I suggest you get a bike.

The 15min walk sucks, but the 5min bike ride rules. They’re actually both blessings in disguise. When you thought you’ve gotten tired studying on-campus, Clark Kerr is far enough away from campus for you to actaully relax. Foothill has the benefit of being great for studying. Being at the top of the hill also means that all classes are downhill.

Foothill is not so bad, especially Hillside. You can listen to concerts at the Greek Theatre for free; it’s an easy walk to Memorial Stadium for football games, and it’s right across the street from campus.

One more thing – you won’t get the freshman 15. You go downhill to all your classes, and they’ll be all over the place, some close some far. Same if you’re in the units. Downside is the walk back up the hill (although you can catch the bus, or if really lazy, they have these golf carts and you can call and ask for a lift – I had to do that when I twisted my ankle).

You might need a bike for Clark Kerr, but foothill is across the street from campus. I’m glad that I got it, because I’m doing engineering.

The only downside of Foothill is how far away it is from the gym. I might need a bike to get to the gym without wasting too much time. Hopefully I get somewhat close to the classes that I want so that I can have 2 hours in the morning before class.

Does anyone know what part of Foothill is the coolest temperature-wise? Also, when we accept our housing offers, will we have any say in what part we get into?

Thanks.

How likely is it to get a transfer at this point if I send them an email? My mom called and they were nice but said they only had a spot open in Stern, which almost seems worse. If I stress the fact that I’m already paying OOS tuition, and plan on being a humanities major, is it possible that I’ll be able to nab Unit 1,2,3 housing?

idk why people hate on foothill, it’s what you make of it. i know some really dull suites and some suites that were crazier than the units. plus you are the safer quiet area, which definitely has its benefits. and its technically closer to campus than the other dorms, just not on the side that everyone prefers. don’t be TOO disappointed…

Doesn’t each unit have a gym? Are there more gyms than that?

I do not think all units have gyms. There’s RSF.

foothill has a workout room. there’s RSF too. plus you can always exercise in the fresh air! tons of people just jog around campus, those hills can knock the wind out of you :P

Working out in the fresh air is definitely the way to go. Sure, there’s a gym, but I personally think that you’d be insane for using one – you’re trapped indoors with the smell of everyone’s sweat, working on some pretty gross equipment. Meanwhile, there are some nice hills just east of campus, with exhilirating sights and fresh air (see those trees?). Very little traffic in those parts too.

As for selection - no, you don’t have a choice. You find out your assigned room the day your arrive.
