Gaining a Competitive Advantage with Duke

So everyone agrees Wisconsin is pretty underrepresented at Duke?

Also that CDs is weird cause I though Duke didn’t track demonstrated interest.

OP, no one has mentioned this obvious point, so I just thought I would throw in that your financial situation by itself would not help, but it does allow you to apply ED without worrying about getting sufficient financial aid. If you think that Duke may be your first choice, note that Duke’s ED admit percentage is far higher than its RD admit percentage.

If you really want to get in, apply early. your chances will be much higher.

doesn’t ED count in athletes, which makes ppl think that more ppl get accepted ED?
just asking.
On a side note, what are some ways to boost your chances through the application or essay? How to show interest???

If you really want to show interest, make sure to do the Duke supplement. It is completely optional, but it gives you the chance to show admissions why you want to go to Duke, especially in the Why Duke essay. We here at Duke love our school, and we’re looking for people who love it just as much as we do. Make sure to do research as to why you want to come here - don’t just say things like ‘good academics and sports.’ Be unique. Talk about DukeEngage or FOCUS or one of the programs you can only find at Duke. Hope that helps!

that actually helped a lot!! how about identifying with the fact that Duke is a body of people that are devoted to academics but also extremely well rounded at the same time? i kinda see that in me as well.

I’ll definitely look into those programs…thanks a bunch.
