My brother is a NYU alum, and he said that the general view of the gallatin student body is that they are not as smart as the other kids in nyu.....

...IS THIS TRUE...

is Gallatin reserved for the kids who CANT get into NYU?

whoa guys relax
first of all, both SCPS, LSP, and maybe even Steinhardt are just as easy or easier to get into than Gallatin.

There is no "stigma" about what school you go to at NYU...it's not like people look down on Gallatin students...although I have heard of some seriously stupid majors. But just because someone makes up their own unique program doesn't make them stupid...certainly unique and motivated

What is it with people obsessed with getting into NYU rather than into the school they want? Really, you should choose NYU because of your interests, not based on the easiest way to live in greenwich village.

i know a few gallatin folks, they're nice and self-motivated. and they don't major in underwater basket weaving or evil.

Its a little easier to get into but if you don't have a creative essay consider yourself.,, It counts the essay more than anything else. Thats what got me in since my GPA isn't that great (3.2) but my ACT was respectable (31). I just think Gallatin is a little more advantageous and more creative. Besides Tisch of course.

lmao they sure did. Also, they had the money to pay for someone to revise their essay they submitted till it was a masterpiece.
Not sure how or even if they did have a GPA O.o?

Well they had grades from home schooling, obviously. Also they took the SATs, but made sure their scores would not be leaked. I read an interview with them, and their essay topics sounded very interesting. Don't forget that those girls pretty much grew up with adults their entire lives.

I'm applying to Gallatin for the academic freedom... not becasue I can't get into NYU. It actually has proven to be one of the more selective schools becasue they look for more than just numbers. They're looking for a class of self motivated and independent intellects.

Come on! The Olsen twins could go to any school in the country. They are like Intel winners, national #1 tennis players, published novelists times 10.
