gallatin or arts and sciences

I am applying to nyu as a regular decision candidate but I am not sure which school to apply to. At least ten people from my school are applying to arts and sciences but no one else is applying to gallatin. Although gallatin is harder, would it be easier to get in to gallatin because so many people are applying to arts and sciences and I am more in direct competition with them?

Also chance me if you want... i'd appreciate it

private school
los angeles
white
jewish
female
32 act
3.7
great recs
great connections
legacy
good ec's
ap lit ap geo ap lang ap us all 4's

thanks

jewish girl from ca won't give you an edge in admissions since nyu represents the most jewish students than any other private university and california is big here too. legacy is dying out, unless your parents contribute money (which i doubt). no sat subject exams? no math AP? that'll hurt.

gallatin is actually easier to get into than is CAS. don't know where you heard that other info. just make sure you explain your reasons for applying thoroughly and as interestingly as possible wherever you choose to apply. i'm not too familiar with the ACT but i'm assuming it translates to about a 2100 SAT? i guess you'll be admitted. good luck.

thanks. sat 2's i got a 700 on lit and 610 on math 2. a 32 is closer to a 2160. is gallatin really easier to get in to? how do you know that?

generally, if you explain why gallatin would be the perfect fit for you and your 'individualized major' its pretty much said youll be admitted once you have all the right test scores. its less competitive than is CAS, less students apply. the 610 MATHII exam will hurt since there is actually a big curve on that exam (i think something like getting 6 wrong still gives you an 800 on it?). but im assuming what you plan on studying has nothing to do deal with mathematics. good luck.

which private school in LA, that many are applying to NYU??

i'm assuming she's talking about harvard-westlake

no, those kids hit the ivies...but it's possible

I go to h-w, and lots of smart kids go to NYU.

I think that you'll almost certainly get in, regardless of whether you apply to gallatin or CAS. apply to the school you like better, they are about equally hard to get into.

Don't worry about the other people applying from your school, I don't think NYU cares that much. My senior class went 5 for 6 getting in, and that 6th guy didn't really qualify. Good luck!
