Gallatin question?

Which programs can be studied in gallatin? I know that it is "independent studies", but what exactly does that mean? For example, could you have a major of pshycology in Gallatin or even GSP?

no its for people who want to kind of make up their own majors. psychology is in cas and gsp is not something you can apply for.

I know GSP can't be applied for, but if you are in GSP can you still major in it?

Gallatin is for people who want to combine different subjects to create something that is not offered at NYU. So your major could be something like Music Business. You're allowed to take classes at any of the eight undergraduate schools at NYU to satisfy your major. So in this case you would take music at Steinhardt and some business classes at Stern. It's independent in that you are creating your own curriculum, your own major, your own individualized program. So you can't study a specific program at Gallatin because they don't offer program there (correct me if I'm wrong). They just have a lot of individual advising going on. and GSP is not a school. so you can't have a major of psychology at GSP. Because it's not a school, its only a program, and you can't major in anything at GSP. You take your MAP classes to satisfy some elementary requirements, and then you're transfered to the school you originally applied to, which is then where you'll be working on your major.

See you ADAPT to the system at NYU. I did some research, I read some brochures, and I learned. It's not hard. Neither is getting around New York City if you adapt, which everyone eventually will
