Gallatin vs. Tisch vs. CAS

Can someone help me discern the selectivity of these 3 NYU options? Also, are there differences in merit-based aid? And a sense of how specialized the Tish program is?

My potential NYU son loves English, also writes plays, likes History. Not an EC freak, top 11% of his class... 1960 SAT.

Your input is appreciated.

Gallatin is self-study. Tisch is for film. CAS is for anything major like pre-med, pre-law, etc.

Tisch it not just film, it's the NYU arts school, and it's extremely competitive. CAS (not simply pre-med, pre-law) is the liberal arts school - one of the easier schools to get into. Gallatin is a school for those with a variety of interests/specific interests that wish to create their own field of study with guidance from an NYU adviser. Gallatin is very heavy on writing. If your son wants to apply to Tisch or Gallatin, they must be very specific about what they want to do and why they are choosing that certain program of study at NYU.

I'm thinking Gallatin may be just what fits for the kid. Thanks for your input.

No problem. I'm a Gallatin hopeful...:)
