Well, it’s interesting to now know that SCAD has a game design program in their undergraduate curriculum, although I don’t know how good it is. I never knew that…

When I think if game design , I frankly think of Digipen;however, even with Digipen, I have no idea how good that school is in game design.

There’s a lot about SCAD you never knew, and yet you rushed head-first to judge it.

Rainingagain notes,“There’s a lot about SCAD you never knew, and yet you rushed head-first to judge it.”

Rainingagain, Give it a rest! I NEVER, EVER saw such an obsessive fanboy as you about anything, nevertheless SCAD. I didn’t attack or denigrate SCAD in this thread nor did I make any “judgment” about it. In fact, I didn’t even mention it at all.

If you want to add information about SCAD, fine; however, stop attacking folks for things not said in the thread. Moreover, I haven’t denigrated SCAD for a long time as well, especially regarding animation. Thus, give your animosity and defensiveness a permanent rest.

//// I didn’t attack or denigrate SCAD in this thread nor did I make any “judgment” about it. ///

False. The OP said he was interested in SCAD or Ringling specifically and you stated you thought he/she was better off going someplace else. And yet you know nothing about game design itself or SCAD for that matter. Too funny.

/// I NEVER, EVER saw such an obsessive fanboy as you about anything, nevertheless SCAD. ///

Yes I am a fan boy, and for good reason! That is why I will defend the integrity of the college if attacked, especially by you who seemed to make it a point - if not a personal mission - to degrade the college. You not only posted negative rhetoric about it here for two years, but on other sites as well. You too seemed obsessed.

Stick to things you know, like taxes I suppose. Don’t speak of game design for that matter either.

No, Southgoing zax, his love is U Cincinnati, and if his D is happened to be at RISD, CMU or any other place, I bet he will be equally obsessed, even with heaven forbid, SCAD.
He is a crazy good researcher and connector, which benefit many people while gagging chosen few, and that’s why I call him guru.

I don’t hate DAAP regardless of the bad grades it got from my dumpster inspection (lots of beer bottles, perfectly good drawing paper pads torn and trashed, latex cracking blue and pink insulation foams figurines of awful creatures) but the town of Cincinnati…

Rainingagain, you can help me about this bit.
First. I wondered why Cincinnati-an (?) loves donuts so much, there are this poles high in the sky with board that has tan/ honey colored giant donut painted on it all over the place. Then my bad eye focused better and read that, those signs are for muni parking lots.
Why donuts? Is there any significance in the color and shape that anything to do with history of art and advertisement?
Clean but weird city… art supply store was sad, galleries, museums are blah, but lots of quiet storefront firms either graphic design or arch and there, I guess DAAP alums would be working.
I didn’t have use for major department stores connected by massive skywalks and to kill few hours before my bus going Columbus, I sat and read NYT book review sections available there past year’s worth piled in the public library. You’d seriously start considering one’s priority, theirs or mine.
Now, Mr. Northgoing, can you tell me where in the downtown besides Benihana can I get Asian take out?

I shoulda go see Savannah, too, but it’s so outa way. I just wanna see where Scarlet O’Hara’s mom came from, never mind SCAD.

I am an industry professional and from what I have witnessed, more people are hired into video game development out of Ringling than SCAD. This is mainly for artistic fields, though, and especially animation.

I know that SCAD has a game development program that is very design-focused, but I’m not sure how effective it is for getting jobs. Also, just as a side not: many studios hire within the company from a QA tester and promote them to a designer. You may be able to get a design job easier by using this method than having to try college. For this, you will have to be living in a city that has a lot of game development studios already, though, as you won’t be relocated for a QA job.
