Hello all! Im currently in community college taking some gen-ed classes, im a freshman. I want to major in game design, and while I know computer science is more marketable I 100% plan on getting into the game design industry so I think game design is the best way for me to go. Im looking at some good programs to transfer to, my list is: USC (long shot I know), Drexel, and depaul. Next semester I will be taking a drawing class and one game design class. My question is what can I do to help the process out, and will USC look at my HS gpa to make or break my admission? Im going to get a 4.0 in college (im over confident, one of my flaws), but I had a 1.9 in HS due to concussions and laziness. Will that really affect admission? My college professors love me right now and I can get great letter of recommendation.

You might find the attached link from the Princeton Review helpful: "Top Undergraduate Schools for Video Game Design: The ones you mention are on the list as well as many others.

<a href=“2023 Top Game Design Schools | The Princeton Review”>http://www.princetonreview.com/top-undergraduate-schools-for-video-game-design.aspx

As far as your chances to transfer with your background, I would go to the various school sites for info or ask that question on their College Confidential page for feedback. Obviously, some of these schools will be easier to get into than USC and others that are at the top of the list.

Definitely look at their websites and email an admissions officer at your preferred schools to get answers. Game design programs can be very competitive at some colleges.
