You heard right.

Aren't you going for a PhD? I thought you alreayd had the BS and MS...

I love how you guys have made me out to be a raging alcoholic. I hope you're not disappointed when you find out that I'm actually just a college student having a good time.

Hahaha, Spanks, we're just kiding... We love ya here on CC!

Well, hate to break it to you, my presence will be limited during the 6 weeks while I'm pledging (and trying not to screw up college).

yeah same here. so little time, but I love my house and new friends (and many of the girls at the mixers are sooo hot haha.)

I actually work in a computer lab with specialized machines that has a game design class. They're 3GHz 2GB RAM PCs with dual display monitors. siiiick

=o ...creams self

with DVD burners and awesome programs like reason, photoshop CS, and premier pro 1.5, among many others. the lab also loans digital projectors and video cameras

what do you guys have to do when you are pledging?

you can't go on CC b/c you're pledging, for 6 weeks?!? it sounds so time consuming.

I'm not saying I can't go on CC, it's just that 10 or 15 hours of BSing my way through life have now been consumed by fraternity life, so I will have to budget my time better. I won't schmooze on here all the time; instead i'll sign on, post to threads i'm interested/can be helpful in, and sign off and do work.

In terms of pledging activities/time it depends on the house. basically it's a lot of activities to help you become an integral part of the house's community. Many of them are social things where you just have fun together and get to know each other, others are more ritualistic/tradition based/hazing-esque. Basically the pledge process brings you into the brotherhood/sisterhood and forces you to meet the guys you've elected to spend your next 3 with. I'll be sure to update you all! It sounds like a lot of fun, even pledging. Also, on the "girls" subject, when you look at just the greek system at cornell, the number of attractive girls you meet out of the whole goes way up! :D

Wait...What's the difference?

Sanosuke Sagara,

the difference is:

Raging alcoholic

vs.

college student just trying to have a good time.

what do you not understand?
if you are implying that if a student wants to have fun at college, he has to be a raging alcoholic, that is far from the truth.

Well I mean I had this math teacher once who was a maintenance alcoholic, meaning she was just drunk off her ass every day. They eventually brought in a sub to do **** cuz that woman didn't have any grades for like an entire semester. She had vodka at breakfast then lunch...Freaking mad. Alcohol is great and stuff but alcoholism isn't the usual trying-to-have-a-good-time stuff. So be careful when you joke about it. That's some serious ****. Anyway, what's this all got to do with gaming?

Gaming...uhhh...almost as debilitating as alcohol. And there ain't many support groups for girls...

CornellOwnz, it's not that I don't have time. I just have less time to sit around and do nothing, because when I'm not doing pledge stuff I'm doing work or at the gym. I have some free time, which was why I said I will still be present, but my time spent here will be limited (as it should be).

why are u guys on these boards... i thought everyone goes on facebook once their in college

Facebook has nothing to do with message boards, really.

Spanks/Sparticus, where are you pledging? I'm DTD.

Sigma Phi Society

and yeah, facebook is more like a phonebook on incredibly awesome steriods; no message boards there.

Stonecold, why do you care? I don't need to justify what I do to a prefrosh ;). Don't you have your lame high school facebook?

I'm a computer gamer, although not that big of one that i once was. And I find that its naive that you would assume all gamers to be the stereotypical nerds that spend all their free time gaming.

i have a query for u sparty/ spanks wrt to frats...

u guys say frats/ sors will take more of ur time... but exactly what do u do?? u say u have chefs to cook, nice-neat mansions...
