Gaming Admissions Decisions

Every year there is a similar rumor that runs rampant, purporting that ones admissions decision can be discovered early. Last year it involved a bulk email that was sent to every applicant, but that had three slightly different wordings. Huge furor over the significance of that and an attempt to define categories of applicants based on which wording they recieved. In the end, meant nothing. This year, it is the green dot.

“i have the green dot! i called berkeley to confirm and they said that if u have this dot, you are in the top 25% applicant pool”

Yeah, it’s funny, because I have a 2240 SAT, 800/790 SAT II’s, and a 4.6 GPA, and yet, I have no dot. Regardless of my overall chances, do you really want to tell me I’m not in at least the top 25%?

^least cockiest post i’ve ever seen

I like how there’s an Untitled - Paint document with a small image of an edited screen shot :)

hmmmmmm – I have so many things to say to you but just one will suffice – you are such a tool.

This thread makes me lol.

“^least cockiest post i’ve ever seen”

least tackily sarcastic post i’ve ever seen.

Call it cocky if you want, but I didn’t say I would get in and I never will unless I do. But if I’m not at least in the top 25% of applicants in terms of pure stats for Cal, which is not even that impressive really, I might as well give up hope for now.

"you are such a tool. "

dkwuw-The litany of chance threads and the like you’ve made make you just as big of a tool as you say I am.

Anyway, again, what I said in that one post may have come off as cocky, but I didn’t even say anything really, I just went exactly by published stats. I don’t think top 25% at Cal means anything. I could easily get rejected. If you have a problem with the thread itself, I have nothing to say except that this is just a centralized version of questions asked in fragments everyday.

Now come up with something unoriginally witty to put me down so I can do it back again.

^Get a life

So Hmmmm makes an excellent point about why this green-dot business is nonsense, and you all call him a tool? I don’t get it. I did not take Hmmm’s post as boastful, merely as further proof that the green-dot is a lie.

^he’s a tool b/c of the fact that he feels the need to disprove an obvious joke.

here’s an example of the “excellent point” you think he makes:
Person A: the earth is flat
hmmmm: no it’s not. i have a spherical model of the planet earth and i call it a globe
Person B: …Person A is right. the earth is flat
hmmmm: no it’s not! this globe that i have has a volume of 4/3.pi.r^3 which proves that this planet earth that we live on is a 3D version of the 2D shape called a circle

hmmmmmm seems like a pretty cool dude
