Gaming The Admissions System?

<p>I know I should be against it, but for some reason I smile when I see someone game the system.</p>

<p>I’ve gotten in trouble before at my school for filling out the “Ethnicity” box on standardized tests with “Other”</p>

<p>Teachers ask me how exactly I qualify as an “other.”</p>

<p>I look them dead in the eye and say, “Other as in human being. I’m a human being. That’s really all [Collegeboard/NYS Regents/ACT] should have to know.”</p>

<p>The fact that anyone ever asks about my race is frankly insulting. It has absolutely NOTHING to do with my academic ability level. But now this is turning into an AA rant :)</p>

<p>Lol, in the newspaper about 5 years ago there was an article about how the public HSs would check the “ethnicity” box after you left on their applications, even if you marked “decline to state.”</p>
